About this tool
The Relationship Health Check looks at ten foundations of a healthy partnership: respect, freedom, fairness, support, fun, safety and shared direction. It is designed to be a calm annual or seasonal check-in, similar to visiting a doctor for a routine review.
Tips for getting the most from it
- Do this check when things feel fine, not only when they feel hard.
- Notice any question about safety and take it seriously.
- Celebrate the high-scoring areas out loud with your partner.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a substitute for counselling?
No. It is a reflection aid. If you feel unsafe or stuck, a qualified counsellor or a domestic abuse helpline can provide real support.
How often should I take it?
Two to four times a year works well, or after big changes such as moving in, having a child or changing jobs.
